Thus it was that Lekaran's army marched out to face their kindred in battle. The tribes, in the face of this show of force had united, and stood as one against the army of Sistrine. At the head of the barbarian forces stood a dark figure whose face was hidden by a helmet. Lekaran faced the barbarian tribes. "We are brothers, brethren. Each one of you is invited to join us, we have no desire to fight you. But fight we shall, for it seems that words do not reach you."

The barbarians took up their battle cry and they stormed into the fight. The helmeted figure charged straight at Lekaran with a viciousness that took him back. As his axe crossed with that of his opponent's, thunder gathered in the sky, and rain fell, black rain, such as had not been seen in years. The stone embedded in the axe flashed with a searing light, momentarily blinding all upon the battlefield. When the light cleared, both Lekaran and his opponent were gone. A scorched circle in the grass was the only sign of where they had been standing.

At the same moment in the temple of Sistrina Kelara fell unconscious. The staff she constantly had by her floated to the centre of the chamber, slowly spinning and glowing with an intense light. The acolytes watched it, fascinated. It span faster and faster and then seemed to explode in burst of light which forced them all to shield their eyes. When they could see again, Kelara's body had disappeared, along with her staff. But, where her body had lain was the stone from her staff, embedded in the floor.

Those on the battlefield had also been temporarily blinded. When they regained their sight, chaos broke loose upon the battleground. Some threw down their weapons in disgust at the violence and fled the field. Others ceased to fight and returned back to the city, or back to the grasslands. However, there were those, who were enraged at the loss of their leader, who threw themselves into battle with more rage than before. As the remaining light seeped through the rain soaked sky from the horizon, the last combatants fell on the battlefield.
