And so it came to be that the first city, Sistrine was founded. The city developed slowly underneath the watchful and caring eyes of Lekaran and Kelara. The first official building to be built was a temple to Sistrina. Kelara became the first Prophet of Sistrina , and took on many intiates, who developed the art of healing and learnt the secret of creation. The city prospered, the inhabitants could farm in peace, develop trade and go about their daily lives knowing that they were safe and protected.
As the ice receded the number of barbarians migrating to the greenlands increased, and as the city grew in wealth and fame it attracted marauders, tribes of barbarians looking for quick riches. After several raids by roaming tribes, Lekaran and Kelara decided something had to be done. Lekaran founded an army, but mindful of the words of Sistrina, he ensured to drill into them a strict code - strike, strike hard but strike only in defence. Kelara sent out High Priests and Priestesses to talk with the invaders, to negotiate peace.
The peace missions failed. There were too many smaller tribes, and each worked independently, as soon as peace was made with one group, another decided to maraud. Lekaran saw no other option but to use a show of force.
